What does Stage one, Stage two, Stage two plus really need?

We get asked all the time what is required for stage 1 or what do we need for stage 2. In this we will tell you what you need for your car to go stage one or stage two. All the way upto stage 3. Not only for the m140i but for a range of cars.

Which leads nicely to the first point. Not all cars need the same thing. For example on pretty much every BMW up to the current cars and the B58 engine (found in the M140i) you will want to upgrade your charge pipe the second you want to add any more power. The stock charge pipe struggles with the extra power and often breaks. However on the M140i you don't need to. The moral of the story it changes car to car. If you have any questions what is needed for your car please email us and we can help you out!

Stage one - This is dead easy and pretty much the same across the board. Stage one is just new software, this is a change to the original coding which makes your car run. As dealerships have other priority's like fuel consumption and admissions and so on that they need to hit when selling the car the software is often much kinder to those things. Fuel consumption can actually be improved by a good remap. This is a straightforward easy modification. We have options of custom maps or even something like bootmod or MG flasher.

Stage one plus - This is often software and something else. Like a better panel filter, better intercooler or something that improves some form of airflow. The osprey panel filter is a good example. Then once again the software.

Stage two - This is where it gets more complicated. Minimum you need is a decat or sports cat. However some cars need intercooler as well. The older BMW's almost definitely need a charge pipe at this point or run the risk of having no boost one day... Some cars its recommended to have an intake as well. Then some stage 2 software. This is different from your stage 1 map as it needs to tune in the new changes. This is one of the perks for MG flasher and Boot mod as you can change that yourself on your phone in a matter of minutes.

Stage two plus - This once again changes car to car. Most of the time its to address the limiting factor, often fueling or a better intake or better exhaust. It is something that is stopping the car from going that little bit further!

Stage three - is the big guns, this can be a bigger turbo if your car is already turboed from the factory. If it's and NA car then there are other options like turbo charging or even super chargers that can be added. From there, its a complete ball game!

Hope that helped. If you need any help with any of the above options then let us know! - Sales@nforcd.com
